Ceuta Closes Key Border Crossing with Morocco, Citing Security Concerns

The authorities of the autonomous city of Ceuta have decreed the "definitive" closure, for "security" reasons, of the northern passage of the autonomous city, where the last group of migrants from the barrier left on August 30. This was a transit point to and from Morocco that was widely used.
In order not to penalize its users completely, the Government Delegation in Ceuta has nevertheless reassured that this transit point to and from Morocco can only be used "in a regulated manner and with a limited number of hours".
This will allow access to the Muslim cemetery located right next to the perimeter, not to mention the imams who carry out their religious work in the Ceuta neighborhood of Benzú, reports El Mundo.
For her part, the Government Delegate in Ceuta, Salvadora Mateos, has received several representatives of the population, to explain this decision of "definitive" closure to them.
It seems that this decision of the Government Delegation in Ceuta is linked to the assault attempted by an impressive number of migrants at the end of August. Indeed, on Friday, August 30, 2019, 155 African migrants managed to enter the Spanish enclave of Ceuta by forcing the high fence topped with barbed wire.
