Ceuta Border Overwhelmed as Thousands of Moroccan Expats Return for Summer

Nearly 8,000 vehicles crossed the Tarajal border into Ceuta to enter Morocco, between Thursday and Sunday, as part of the Marhaba Operation. And the flow should be even higher in the coming days.
On Thursday, 2,205 vehicles, including 1,037 from MREs and 988 belonging to Ceuta residents, were recorded in the waiting area near the Tarajal border. On Friday, there were 2,351 vehicles, of which only 787 were for Ceuta residents. The same number (2,351) was recorded on Saturday, of which only 707 were for Ceuta residents. On Sunday, 976 vehicles arrived at the border, including 486 for residents of the city, reports Europa Sur.
From this Thursday, the number of MRE vehicles arriving in Ceuta from Algeciras should increase considerably due to the celebration of the French national holiday on July 14, a date that also coincides with the beginning of the holidays for many MREs. But most could use the direct Algeciras-Tanger Med link, especially since the price difference for the trip compared to Algeciras-Ceuta has not been so great in recent weeks.
