Ceuta Border Crossing Closed as Moroccan Police Warn of Migrant Surge

The Guardia Civil elements proceeded to close the Tarajal crossing point on the morning of Wednesday, October 2, after their Moroccan counterparts had alerted them to the approach of 150 sub-Saharan migrants to the border post.
According to the Spanish news agency, EFE, the Moroccan authorities gave the alert around 6:30 a.m., warning of the imminent arrival at the borders of a significant number of illegal migrants.
The Guardia Civil immediately deployed its forces along the land borders, over a length of 8.2 km, in anticipation of possible infiltration attempts. These precautionary measures are taken to prevent the recurrence of last year’s incidents.
Finally, the authorities of the two countries decided to reopen the crossing point to Moroccan carriers who are numerous to use it every morning, and who had been blocked for several hours.
