Cepsa Expands Marine Lubricant Distribution to Morocco in ExxonMobil Partnership Renewal
Wednesday 2 November 2022, by
Cepsa has renewed its partnership with ExxonMobil until 2032 for the production and distribution of marine lubricants in Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar, with an extension of the collaboration to Morocco.
The partnership between the two companies began in 1973, with the creation of an ExxonMobil lubricant production plant near Cepsa’s facilities in San Roque, making the Spanish company the official distributor of the ExxonMobil range of marine lubricants in Spain since the plant was commissioned in 1976. The two companies then agreed to extend the product distribution to the ports of Gibraltar (1997) and Portugal (2008).
The 10-year renewal of the partnership will allow the continuation of the distribution of marine lubricants in the countries already covered, but also in Morocco, according to Europa Press. Thus, the entire range of this product, as well as the MobilGard products, will be distributed in the port of Tangier and the rest of the ports of the kingdom in 2023. These lubricants for all types of ships will be available in the ports of Algeciras, Gibraltar, Ceuta and Tangier, the four main ports in the region.
"Commercial innovation and the pursuit of excellence to adapt to the expectations of our customers have been essential for this alliance to continue to consolidate as a reference in the sector after more than half a century of history," said Carlos Barrasa, Director of Commercial and Clean Energies at Cepsa. For her part, Joanne Eu, ExxonMobil’s Global Director of Marine and Aviation Lubricants, said that the renewal of the partnership with Cepsa and the extension to Morocco "will improve shipowners’ access to lubricants when and where they need them."
