CDC Lowers Travel Risk Rating for Morocco, Five Other Countries

Morocco is now classified by the United States in the low-risk category 1 for travelers. This is the result of the latest Covid-19 guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) dated April 4.
The State Department advises travelers to Morocco to "ensure they are fully vaccinated before traveling" there, as the kingdom is classified in category 1. This is the category of destinations where the Covid-19 risk is the lowest (less than 50 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 28 days). In addition to Morocco, the CDC has added Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, Nepal and Pakistan to this category. Previously, all of these destinations were classified in category 2. These are countries that have recorded 50 to 99 Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 28 days. Americans should exercise increased caution if they wish to travel to countries classified in this category.
The "high" risk category 3 applies to destinations that have recorded between 100 and 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 28 days. Destinations that have recorded more than 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 28 days are classified in category 4 (level 4 risk: "very high" Covid-19). This means that the CDC advises Americans not to travel to these destinations. If they have to make the trip, they must be fully vaccinated.
