Catalonia Fire: Five Moroccan Teenagers Die in Tragic Blaze
A fire claimed the lives of five teenagers of Moroccan origin on Monday evening in Manlleu, Catalonia. Trapped by smoke in a converted attic, four other young people were evacuated and rescued.
The tragedy occurred shortly after 21:00 on the top floor of a building on Carrer del Montseny. The victims were in a storage room converted into an informal recreational space, equipped with mattresses and sofas. The rapid burning of this furniture filled the rooms with toxic smoke, blocking the exits and causing the five minors to die of asphyxiation before firefighters arrived.
