Casablanca Zoo Reopening Sparks Debate Over High Admission Prices

The Aïn Sebaâ zoo in Casablanca is about to reopen its doors after years of closure, but the admission price is causing some grumbling.
The City Council must decide this Thursday on the park management contract project, which provides for an entry fee of 80 dirhams for adults and 50 dirhams for children. An increase is even already planned for 2029, bringing the ticket price to 100 dirhams for adults and 60 dirhams for children.
These rates, considered excessive, worry some elected officials, including Karim Glaïbi, a member of the park’s monitoring commission. In an interview with Alyaoum24, he is alarmed by the consequences of this pricing policy for Casablanca families, already hit by the economic crisis. For him, the Aïn Sebaâ zoo, a true institution of the city for more than 80 years, must remain accessible to all.
Rather than charging visitors a high price, the official suggests improving the management of the park and developing its educational and recreational activities. Partnerships with the private sector or the organization of events could, according to him, generate additional revenue.
For her part, Nabila Rmili, invites the people of Casablanca to follow the debates of the City Council to be held this Thursday, assuring that the reopening of the zoo is a priority and that everything is being done to ensure the safety of visitors and residents.
