Casablanca says no to trucks in the city center

The Casablanca city hall has decided to restrict access for heavy goods vehicles to the city center, in order to decongest road traffic.
Casablanca wants to ban access for heavy goods vehicles to the city center, especially during the day, in the coming weeks. In total, more than 1.5 million vehicles circulate in the arteries of the economic capital, according to statistics from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics. Ahead of the decision, the city council initiated a first project in Morocco that consists of regulating the access of heavy goods vehicles to the city center, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. It has therefore developed a three-pronged plan to decongest road traffic within the urban perimeter, particularly during the day.
The restriction of access for heavy goods vehicles in the urban perimeter nevertheless presents advantages for companies, shopping centers and supply factories for consumer products. They will be able to benefit from specialized platforms for receiving all kinds of goods that the municipality will install in dedicated logistics areas. Small trucks will then be responsible for distributing these goods during set hours outside peak hours. These trucks will travel on road 322 leading to Zenata.
The City Council also plans to build large warehouses near the peripheral roads.
