Casablanca Real Estate Tycoon Arrested for $4 Million Check Fraud Scheme

Accused of real estate fraud for having issued a dozen checks without provision, Mohamed Jamal Lahjouji, director of the real estate company LC Building based in Casablanca, was arrested on Sunday by elements of the National Brigade of the Judicial Police.
The defendant was the subject of a national arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in several cases of checks without provision for a total value of more than 40 million dirhams.
Mohamed Jamal Lahjouji, entrepreneur and real estate developer, is known for having carried out major projects in the kingdom such as the headquarters of the German company Porsche in Casablanca, the headquarters of Kitea, located at the entrance of the city of Tangier, the Onomo hotel, as well as several factories and schools.
The city of Casablanca is waging a fierce battle against real estate developers who defraud their clients. Several of them are currently being prosecuted in court for having issued checks without provision. This is the case of the president of Raja de Casablanca, Mohamed Boudrika, who is on the run abroad.
