Moroccan Real Estate Tycoon Arrested for Multiple Bounced Checks Worth Millions

Businessman Mohamed H., a real estate developer in Casablanca, was arrested a week ago for issuing a dozen bounced checks to clients and partners.
The Casablanca court decided to prosecute the real estate mogul in detention after several companies and individuals filed complaints against him, accusing him of issuing bounced checks.
On June 10, a company filed a complaint against the individual for issuing a bounced check worth 1.2 million dirhams, reports Hespress. In another complaint filed on May 28, a partner of Mohamed H. accuses him of issuing a bounced check worth 852,000 dirhams.
This last plaintiff filed a second complaint against the defendant, to whom he would have paid the sum of 10 million dirhams as part of a commercial transaction, asking the public prosecutor to issue a warrant for his arrest.
Following these complaints, the king’s prosecutor at the court of first instance of Ain Sebaa in Casablanca ordered the detention of Mohamed H. for the offense of issuing bounced checks totaling more than 40 million dirhams.
