Casablanca Ranks Low in Global Livability Index, Study Finds

Casablanca is among the poorly ranked cities in the ranking of the most livable cities. This is revealed by a new study on the quality of life in 172 cities around the world.
The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), a branch of The Economist magazine, has unveiled its ranking of the world’s best places to live. In total, 172 cities on five continents are ranked according to 30 criteria grouped into four themes: socio-political stability; access to healthcare; culture and environment; education and infrastructure. Vienna (Austria) tops the top 5. It is followed by Copenhagen (Denmark), Zurich (Switzerland), Calgary and Vancouver (Canada). In the bottom 5, we find Damascus (172nd, Syria), Lagos (171st, Nigeria), Tripoli (170th, Libya), Algiers (169th, Algeria) and Karachi (168th, Pakistan).
With scores between 40 and 60, Cairo (Egypt), Tunis (Tunisia), Casablanca (Morocco) and Istanbul (Turkey), as well as Riyadh, Jeddah and Khobar (Saudi Arabia) are in the middle to bottom of the ranking.
