Casablanca Ranks 9th Among Africa’s Wealthiest Cities, Study Finds

Casablanca is in the ranking of the 10 richest cities in Africa. Johannesburg is at the top of the pack.
The ranking is based on the wealth of each city. Wealth measured by assets such as property, cash, stocks and business interests, as well as all real estate and primary residences, reports Face of Malawi.
The largest city in Morocco with an estimated population of 3.7 million, Casablanca occupies the 9th place in the ranking. Its total wealth amounts to $39 billion. The city has two dollar billionaires. This city is far behind Cairo. With a total estimated wealth of $129 billion, the Egyptian capital ranks 3rd. The largest city in the country, it accounts for 22% of the Egyptian economy and has the largest number of billionaires in Africa, a total of 5.
South Africa dominates the ranking. Four of its cities are featured. With an estimated wealth of $248 billion, Johannesburg occupies the first place in the ranking. It is the most visited city in Africa with over 5 million visitors per year. It has 2 dollar billionaires and about 16,000 millionaires. It is followed by Cape Town. With a total wealth of $133 billion and a population of over 3.5 million, it ranks 2nd. It has one dollar billionaire. Located on the east coast of South Africa, Durban ranks 5th, with a total wealth of $54 billion. Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa, is the 7th richest city in Africa, with a total wealth of $45 billion.
The most populous city in Africa with over 22 million inhabitants, Lagos occupies the 4th place in the ranking. Its wealth is estimated at $96 billion. The city has 2 dollar billionaires and 5,400 millionaires. With a total estimated wealth of $49 billion, Nairobi ranks 6th. It is the richest and most visited city in East Africa.
