Casablanca Police Bust Crime Ring Targeting Women Through Ride-Hailing App

The Casablanca police recently dismantled a criminal network that was using the VTC application InDrive to trap users, mainly women.
The criminals were posing as drivers and targeting their victims through the app, taking them to isolated areas of the city at nightfall.
Once there, the victims were threatened with a knife and relieved of their valuables, such as cash and mobile phones. In addition to theft, several victims also suffered physical violence, sometimes very serious.
Following an increase in complaints, the police launched a large-scale operation that led to the arrest of two individuals. One of them was apprehended in the act, at the wheel of the vehicle used for the attacks.
The investigation continues to determine the extent of the criminal activities of this group and to identify any possible accomplices.
