InDrive Driver Arrested in Rabat for Alleged Assault on YouTuber

The police services have arrested an InDrive driver in Rabat, for insults and threats of violence, and then placed him in custody. He was the subject of a complaint filed by a Youtuber.
In a statement, the Rabat police services indicated that they had "quickly" responded to the complaint for insults and physical threats and to the video published on Instagram by the youtuber Fatima Zahra Askri in which she recounts how she was threatened by an InDrive driver, who allegedly drove her to an isolated place. She accuses him of having assaulted her and tried to rape her. A horrible situation that she narrowly escaped on July 11. The police managed to identify and arrest her alleged aggressor. The suspect was placed in custody and made available to the ongoing judicial investigation, to elucidate this case.
This alleged assault comes at a time when carpooling apps like InDrive active in Morocco are the subject of criticism from many Moroccans. Some have pointed out that the lack of regulatory measures creates an environment of uncertainty and concern for users. They mention frequent conflicts between drivers of carpooling apps and taxi drivers. "Those involved in the use of applications to provide public transport services are exposed to the sanctions provided for by the royal decree and law no. 52.05 on the Highway Code," warned Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior.
