Casablanca Officials Crack Down on Unauthorized Home Churches

The caïd of the administrative annex of Sid El Khadir, in the Hay Hassani district of Casablanca, assured the inhabitants of the region that measures will be taken to limit the transformation of houses into places of worship, without authorization.
Firm measures will be taken to put an end to these practices that disrupt the order and tranquility of the people of Casablanca, said the caïd, indicating that several complaints have been filed with the justice system against the perpetrators of these acts.
Last Sunday, in Hay Hassani, residents called on the services of a bailiff to record the transformation of several garages and homes into places of worship (churches), without authorization.
To recall, the residents of the region had complained to the local authorities and the public prosecutor at the court of first instance in Casablanca, calling for an end to the nuisances caused by these practices that continue late into the night.
More than 100 people of sub-Saharan origin participate in these "noisy cults," the residents say in their complaint, inviting those concerned to "comply with the law regarding the number of participants and the set schedules, while respecting the rights of neighboring residents."
