Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport: Eerie Quiet as Passenger Flights Suspended

Although it appears empty, without any animation, the Mohammed V international airport in Casablanca maintains its activity. Cargo freight is still operational while air travel is temporarily suspended, to remain in compliance with the measures taken by the Moroccan authorities.
The atmosphere is not that of ordinary days. Most of the offices are empty, the hall is deserted, while some cleaning agents are busy shining the premises. The souvenir shops are lit up and await buyers. The passport and ticket check counters are desperately empty; the few employees present are twiddling their thumbs. The daily life at the Mohammed V international airport in Casablanca, since passenger flights to and from Morocco have been suspended, is gloomy.
According to the observation made by a d’aujourd’hui.ma team, most of the agents working in this airport are at home, hoping for the end of the crisis to revive their skills, their passion. On the ground, the security forces ensure strict compliance with the decisions taken by the authorities to contain the spread of the virus.
The airport is eagerly awaiting the day when the sky could once again come alive with passenger flights to the countries of the world and towards the kingdom.
