Casablanca Mayor Resigns as Health Minister Amid Dual-Role Controversy

The pressure had become too strong for Nadia Rmili, who was criticized for having accepted the position of Minister of Health while being the mayor of Casablanca. This Thursday, October 14, she finally opted for the economic capital.
Nabila Rmili is no longer the Minister of Health. She who became the first woman mayor of Casablanca has submitted her resignation to focus on her municipal functions.
In accordance with Article 47 of the Constitution, and on the proposal of the Head of Government, King Mohammed VI, has therefore appointed Khaled Ait Taleb as Minister of Health and Social Protection, according to a press release from the Royal Cabinet.
This resignation comes a few days after voices were raised, calling on Nabila Rmili to choose between her position as mayor and that of minister.
