Casablanca Elects First Woman Mayor as RNI Gains Political Ground

The Rassemblement national des indépendants (RNI) continues its political breakthrough initiated since the elections of September 8 last. Tipped to hold the position of mayor, Nabila Rmili was elected this Monday, September 20, mayor of Casablanca. A historic election, as it is the first time that a woman has been elected head of the economic capital.
Nabila Rmili won 105 votes out of 130 votes cast and thus becomes the first woman mayor of the largest city in the Kingdom. The latter presented herself as the head of the list in the Sbata district, and was the tenth vice-president within the outgoing municipal council office. She is a doctor by profession and regional director of health in Casablanca-Settat.
In the management of the metropolis, Nabila Rmili will be assisted by ten vice-presidents who were appointed during the election of the Municipal Council office.
