Casablanca Launches 3-Month Building Beautification Campaign for Tourist Areas
The Casablanca city hall has launched a campaign to beautify the city’s buildings, in order to make it more attractive and improve the living environment. The owners of these buildings have 3 months to paint them in the colors imposed by the local authorities.
It is initially a matter of 1400 buildings located on the tourist circuit of the city, reports L’Économiste, which recalls that the owners have been made aware of the opportunity of this municipal decision. "Our agents have started to draw up and distribute tickets to the owners concerned," said a municipal source.
The objective of the operation is to restore the former luster of the city center, but thousands of Art Deco buildings are weakened by years of neglect. These buildings need not only paint, but also proper renovation (repair, rehabilitation...).
In case of non-compliance, the owner concerned will receive a 2nd registered letter reminding him of the obligation to repaint his property. After about fifteen days, the files of the offenders will be transferred to the municipal services in order to carry out the work at the owner’s expense. "We are targeting the main arteries first, then the alleys and later the entire territory of the municipality," warns the same source.
