Casablanca to Install Facial Recognition Cameras and Drones for City-Wide Surveillance

The city of Casablanca has decided to acquire facial recognition cameras and drones to strengthen its security. French engineering firms, Huawei and Hikvision, and the Moroccan security systems company AB Protection are competing to win the contract.
Like Marrakech, Casablanca wants to equip itself with facial recognition cameras and drones. In total, 577 sites will be equipped with cameras (1 to 4). 200 intersections as well. The Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) is in charge of the order. Artificial intelligence will be used to monitor the infrastructure of the economic capital as well as the people of Casablanca.
Once received, these "new generation" high-tech eyes will scrutinize the esplanade of the Hassan II Mosque, the tramway lines, the BRT networks, the tunnels of the economic capital (La Résistance, the Almohads...), reports Hespress. In other words, all of Casablanca will be covered by this surveillance system. The drones will be very useful in the fight against delinquency, crime, the detection of Casablancans who violate the state of health emergency, etc.
