Casablanca Hospital Performs First Successful Living Donor Kidney Transplant

The Cheikh Khalifa International University Hospital in Casablanca performed its first kidney transplant from a living donor. This operation, performed on a patient suffering from end-stage renal failure, was a success.
Before the intervention, the patient and the donor underwent a series of medical examinations to assess their health status and the chances of success of the transplant. Previously, the donor had given his consent to donate his kidney. This step is crucial to ensure the safety and well-being of the donor and the recipient, it is explained.
Kidney transplantation is a complex surgical procedure that is a vital option for people with end-stage renal failure, offering them the possibility of leading an almost normal life. Thanks to this successful transplant, the patient was able to regain normal kidney function after eight days of post-operative medical monitoring.
Since its authorization in 2015 to perform organ, tissue and hematopoietic cell transplants, the hospital has successfully performed several kidney transplants from deceased donors.
