Casablanca Grapples with Transport Crisis as Population Surges Past 5 Million

Urban mobility remains one of the major problems facing the city of Casablanca, which is experiencing an unprecedented demographic explosion.
With its more than five million inhabitants, Casablanca, the largest city in the kingdom, will have to rethink its transport system to cope with the growing increase in its population.
Intervening on Wednesday at a meeting at the headquarters of the Casablanca-Settat region, Nabil Belabed, general manager of the Casa Transport company, stressed the need to improve the quality of means of transport to meet the expectations of the people of Casablanca.
The official also stated that the Casa Transport company measures the extent of the challenges that remain to be met in order to improve the quality of means of transport in high-density population areas and suburban areas, and to ensure urban development in the city.
