Casablanca’s Video Game Market Struggles Amid Pandemic, Forcing Sellers to Adapt

Many thought the health crisis would be much more profitable for video game sellers, but that is not the case. The daily Assabah confirms this after its visit to the joutiya of Derb Ghallef, one of the meeting points for video game enthusiasts.
Covid-19 obliges, during this time of year, favorable for selling video games, the joutiya of Derb Gballef is also grinding. The end of October of each year constitutes the last opportunity period for video game sellers to sell their goods, thanks to the release of new editions of the most famous video games including "FIFA" or "God of War" and others, said a merchant. But the place, previously teeming with people, is almost deserted. Even if the video game market of Derb Ghallef had resumed between July and August last, the recovery was not up to expectations and could not make up for the economic voids of confinement, he added.
Thus, the video game market of Derb Ghallef, like other similar markets, risks a loss estimated at several million dirhams, according to Assabah sources.
With the health crisis and its multiple impacts, reconversion remains the best option for several merchants. Thus, several merchants have moved from video games to electronic games, concluded the daily.
