Casablanca’s Derb Omar Market Struggles as Coronavirus Disrupts Chinese Imports

The nerve center of commerce in Casablanca is going through a very difficult period, due to the shortage of products from China. Several Moroccan and Chinese importers have closed their shops.
The famous commercial district of Derb Omar, which supplies the vast majority of merchants throughout the kingdom, has turned into a ghost town since the beginning of the Coronavirus epidemic in China.
Due to the diversity of the offer and the affordable prices, many businesses across the country had gotten into the habit of procuring all kinds of goods from the wholesalers in the district.
The Coronavirus epidemic has been a blow, both for importers and resellers across the kingdom, since the imported goods come mainly from China and Hong Kong.
