Casablanca Demolishes Illegal Buildings to Make Way for Urban Development Project

As part of a vast operation to fight against anarchic construction, the local authorities of Casablanca have proceeded to demolish several illegally built buildings and warehouses in the Aïn Sebaâ area.

The initiative, carried out on the instructions of the Wali of the region, Mohamed Mhidia, aims to free up space for the realization of a project on the Aïn Sebaâ corniche.

The demolition operation is part of the Wali of Casablanca’s determination to put an end to the illegal occupation of land and recover spaces for urban development, reports the site Aljarida24. These anarchic constructions, often erected without respect for safety and hygiene standards, constitute not only an obstacle to urban planning, but also a source of social and economic problems, it is detailed.

As Karim Glaibi, vice-president of the Aïn Sebaâ District Council and member of the Casablanca City Council, pointed out in an interview with the same source, the development work on the Aïn Sebaâ corniche is progressing at a sustained pace.

Scheduled for inauguration in July, this corniche will offer the residents of Aïn Sebaâ, Sidi Moumen and the surrounding areas a quality leisure area, with recreational and sports facilities that meet the expectations of the people of Casablanca.
