Casablanca Court Orders COVID-19 Testing for All Judges and Staff Amid Pressure Concerns

A screening test for all magistrates and civil servants will be carried out at the Court of First Instance in Casablanca next week.
The Minister of Justice, in collaboration with the local and health authorities of Casablanca, has decided to screen all magistrates and civil servants of the Court of First Instance. The court staff have not undergone the Covid-19 screening test so far.
The issue of the significant pressure experienced by the court, mainly at the level of the cashier section, was addressed during the visit of a general inspection commission from the Ministry of Justice last Thursday. From the first week of resumption, nearly 1,000 cases were registered per day. The cashier section will therefore be provided with additional human resources to better manage this critical period.
With a view to improving the conditions of users and civil servants, the ministry is considering the possibility of transferring the enforcement section against insurance companies to another space.
The process of coordination in the exercise of its competences, for the success of the resumption of the work of the courts in this period of crisis, is closely followed by the ministry and the heads of the judicial services.
