Casablanca City Council Embroiled in Document Forgery Allegations

The Casablanca City Council is at the heart of a forgery case. Conventions already adopted in plenary session would have been falsified before their approval by the supervisory authorities.
The case came to light after a member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), sitting on the Council, presented, during a meeting of the public facilities commission, two different versions of a convention relating to the cleanliness and environment sector, adopted in session. A source who attended this session confided to the daily Assabah that the two documents presented revealed a notable difference in the budget allocated to the project concerned.
While one version of the convention indicates a budget of 5 million dirhams, the other, signed by the wilaya, mentions an amount of 15 million dirhams. A difference of 10 million dirhams that raised questions from the members of the commission. They sought to know the person responsible for these falsifications and their motivations, also wondering if other conventions have not also been modified.
The commission forwarded the file to the mayor of the city as well as to the wali. A proposal to remove the draft convention from the agenda of the ordinary session should be filed. Similarly, an examination of all the other conventions has been suggested. In addition, a member of the Council, belonging to an opposition party, and in possession of four falsified conventions, threatens to entrust these files to justice.
Some sources in the municipality find the handling of this case exaggerated, suspecting an instrumentalization for political and electoral purposes. For the moment, these would only be allegations, these sources affirm, estimating that the administrative procedures governing the filing of conventions with the supervisory authority are very strict and that a hypothesis of falsification is unlikely.
