Casablanca’s Chinese Restaurants Face Customer Slump Amid Coronavirus Fears

Tough times for Chinese restaurants in Casablanca, since the coronavirus epidemic broke out. Some are severely lacking in customers, while others have chosen to close, hoping the viral nightmare will end.
According to Hespress, in the Anfa district, which is the heart of the economic capital, Chinese restaurant owners have been complaining about the scarcity of their customers for several weeks, and especially since the announcement of the first case of the "Covid-19" virus in Morocco.
For Chamseddine Abdati, president of the Moroccan Consumer Forum, this is a problem related to "a specific culture of the general public that requires more information and awareness-raising from the competent authorities." He also stressed that "permanent awareness campaigns should have been launched since the recording of the first case of infection in China, to explain that Morocco remains risk-free to date, with the exception of the two cases recorded."
For him, if the campaign does not go in this direction, it will not only be the Chinese restaurants that will be in a bad situation. Abdati finally urged "the competent authorities to launch awareness and prevention campaigns regarding the virus epidemic in all restaurants, so that all customers feel safer and do not lose the habit of going to enjoy themselves in restaurants.
