Casablanca Bus Company Investigates Overcrowding Amid COVID-19 Restrictions

The crowded Alsa buses whose images have been widely shared on social media have sparked a wave of outrage in Morocco. Today, the company operating in Casablanca has decided to open an investigation.
These images of crowded Alsa buses, the urban transport concessionaire in Casablanca, are in total violation of the state of health emergency. These measures decreed as part of the fight against coronavirus include strict social distancing rules on public transport. They also impose a maximum occupancy rate of 50% in buses.
These rules are clearly not being respected on several lines operated by the Alsa company. Informed of these excesses on these lines, the transport company, ensuring compliance with the confinement measures and the health rules applied in Morocco, has opened an investigation to determine the levels of responsibility and the circumstances that allowed such an act.
It also claims to have conducted awareness campaigns for its employees and users. It also assures that upon return to the garages or terminals, and after each trip, the buses are systematically disinfected. Its vehicles in operation are also equipped with hydroalcoholic solutions and the wearing of masks is mandatory.
