Casablanca Boosts Medical Resources as COVID-19 Cases Surge

To limit the resurgence of infection hotspots in Casablanca and its region, the Minister of Health announced the strengthening of resources for medical teams.
Khalid Ait Taleb spoke of the mobilization of human resources and the increase in the capacity of intensive care services. This was during a press conference held at the end of the technical meeting with the Minister of Industry and Trade Moulay Hafid Elalamy and the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, Said Ahmidouch.
The city of Casablanca has seen a sharp increase in positive Covid-19 cases in recent days. This required the strengthening of preventive measures by others more drastic. This will allow the authorities to assess the situation for 14 days. According to the minister, the situation is not out of control, but it deserves to be addressed more seriously. Casablanca alone "is home to 42% of the cases reported daily, 40% of the serious forms and 38% of the number of deaths recorded nationwide".
Since September 7, new measures have been put in place. These include the closure of neighborhood markets, restaurants respectively at 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Access to the city is mandatory with a document signed by the local authorities. And the fact that the resurgence of contamination cases coincides with the start of the school year has led the authorities to decide to close the doors of educational institutions (primary, middle, high schools and universities) until further notice, the same source specifies.
