Casablanca Bans Animal-Drawn Carts to Improve Road Safety and Animal Welfare

Animal-drawn carts are the cause of many traffic accidents, knowing that they are not insured and that the animals used are often victims of violence from their owners.
Animal-drawn carts of street vendors are no longer welcome in Casablanca. The local authorities of the city have finally put an end to this long-standing practice, a source of accidents in the city.
These piles of scrap metal pulled by animals are also not insured and the animals used are often victims of violence from their owners, reports Alyoum24.com. One of the first operations carried out by the administrative police agents of the city, in coordination with the head of an administrative annex of the Ain Chock district, is to close an anarchic hangar that housed these animals and scrap metal waste.
The local authorities, after warning the owners of these carts, proceeded to seize a draft animal in the "Smaala" douar and to close 3 stables in the "El Faran" Douar.
According to the same source, this campaign will continue in the coming days to prohibit the circulation of these draft animals in the economic capital, already banned by a decision of the city council.
