Casablanca Awards $6 Million Contract for 100 High-Tech Public Toilets

After a first experience that ended in failure, Casablanca wants to install 100 public toilets. It has entrusted the contract to a Spanish company that won it after a call for tenders in which several companies participated.
At a cost between 50 and 60 million dirhams, or 600,000 dirhams per unit, this project has sparked a whole controversy over its rather high cost, reports Al Massae. The service in these sophisticated public toilets in Casablanca will be billed at 1.50 dirhams for 15 minutes, it is specified.
According to the same source, the amount of the offer allocated to the Spanish company is in dirhams and foreign currency as follows: 7,920,000 dirhams and 3,898,560 euros. As for the offers of the second and third lowest bidders, they amount to 60,638,400 dirhams and 58,458,096 dirhams respectively.
The terms of the contract stipulate that these "sophisticated" public toilets will be able to offer services meeting the needs of the Casablanca population. In the long run, the Spanish company will have to train technicians to manage these urinals.
