Casablanca Auctions City-Owned Villas to Fund 2025 Africa Cup and 2030 World Cup Preparations

The city of Casablanca plans to auction off several of its real estate assets, including villas. The proceeds from these sales will be used to cover part of the costs related to the preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup.
The Casablanca municipality is expected to approve a budget of 7 billion dirhams at the next Council session scheduled for October to cover the expenses related to the organization of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup.
The auction of the municipality’s real estate assets should make it possible to raise these funds. A 2,740 m² plot located in the Aïn Chock district, including two villas and several buildings, and a property of more than 5,000 m² in the Maârif district housing 21 villas are concerned.
Some properties are rented at derisory prices (barely 250 dirhams per month), creating significant shortfalls for the municipality, lamented the deputy mayor of Casablanca, stressing that the revenue generated by the sale of these properties will be used to acquire new properties.
The Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, chaired a meeting last Wednesday at the headquarters of the Wilaya of the Casablanca-Settat region, devoted to examining the progress of development and sports infrastructure projects in the context of the organization of the 2030 Football World Cup.
