Casablanca to Auction Off City-Owned Villas and Real Estate

The city of Casablanca plans to auction off its real estate, including villas whose monthly rent is too low and do not generate significant resources for the municipality.
The Casablanca municipal council has included on the agenda of its next session scheduled for October the sale of several real estate properties, including villas, reports Assabah, specifying that the councilors will have to authorize the public auction of an initial batch of land titles at this meeting.
Among these land titles is a plot of land with an area of 2,740 square meters, located on Boulevard Nador in the Ain Chock district, housing constructions including two villas operated by individuals, as well as another property in the Maârif neighborhood, with an area of more than 5,000 square meters, on which 21 villas have been built.
The opening prices for the auction sale of these real estate properties are not known. But the proceeds from this sale will be paid into the municipality’s account, dedicated to the purchase of new real estate, the daily newspaper informs.
The municipality thus intends to preserve its real estate heritage, operated for several years during which it received derisory monthly fees or rents of around 120 dirhams for properties that were worth more, depriving the municipality of significant financial resources necessary for the realization of development projects.
