Car Rental Theft Ring Busted in Morocco, Including Police Officer

Faced with the resurgence of thefts, the Federation of car rental agencies has, in a letter, asked the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) to lend a hand. A gang of car rental thieves was dismantled in Khemisset last Wednesday.
On Wednesday, five car rental thieves were arrested in Khemisset following a complaint, reports Al Akhbar. Among them are a policeman, two managers of car rental companies as well as an intermediary in the sale of used cars. They appeared under arrest. They are being prosecuted for complicity, use of forgery, breach of trust leading to the appropriation of other people’s property. The arrest of the policeman would have taken place in Khemisset following a complaint for theft, filed with the police services. He was on board a car stolen from a rental agency located in Nador and whose papers and license plate were forged.
In a letter addressed to Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security, the Federation of car rental agencies congratulated the police for their effective interventions. It encourages him to dismantle all the networks of car rental thieves.
