Canadian Firm Discovers High-Grade Chromium and Rare Metals in Southern Morocco

Canadian company Catalyst Mines Inc, specializing in the exploration and development of critical energy minerals, has discovered strategic metals in Morocco.

The results of surface drilling operations have confirmed very high concentrations of chromium, as well as strong indications of cobalt and nickel, Catalyst Mines Inc announced in a press release. This company is implementing a project titled "Amasin" in the Siroua region, Ouarzazate province, in southern Morocco. These operations are part of its spring 2025 campaign.

Chromium concentrations had reached a peak of 270,350 parts per million, with an average of 10,880 parts per million across the various trenches explored, the Canadian company specified. Nickel recorded an average of about 1,481 parts per million. As for cobalt, it reached an average of 102 parts per million.

These results are "exceptional in every respect," says the CEO of Catalyst Mines Inc. "The size and quality of the chromite mineralization place the project in a globally competitive position, particularly with the growing demand for essential metals for clean energy, manufacturing, and defense industries."

The project is located about 40 km from the famous Bou Azzer mine. Its mineralization "rests on a serpentinite rock matrix, a favorable geological context for large-scale open-pit mining projects." High-quality chromite lenses, as well as geological structures have been discovered, which suggest an extension of mineralization at depth. According to the company, the Amasin project contains approximately 609 million tons of rocks containing chromite, cobalt, and nickel, with an initial value exceeding 60 billion US dollars.

"The mineral textures and mineralization style of the Amasin project show strong similarities with the main strategic mineral extraction zones in Morocco, with a larger surface extension," emphasized the project’s technical advisor and former president of geologists at the Bou Azzer mine to the Al Omk website.

Catalyst Mines Inc is currently conducting an advanced exploration phase via a drilling program comprising 20 wells for a total depth of 4,000 meters, in preparation for the development of resource estimates compliant with international standards (NI 43-101), it is specified.

In Morocco, the Canadian company focuses on developing strategic mining assets. It is committed to respecting sustainability and social responsibility standards, and to strengthening local partnerships to support global energy transition efforts.
