CAF Takes Legal Action Against Morocco for CHAN 2022 Boycott

After Morocco’s boycott of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN), the organizing committee has just seized the competent judicial body of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which reacted on Monday through a press release.
"The CHAN Organizing Committee has seized the competent judicial body of CAF regarding the absence of Morocco in the match scheduled for Sunday, January 15 in Constantine against Sudan," announced the CAF.
A normal procedure according to some experts who point out that Morocco had already declared a forfeit since Friday and the president of CAF present in Morocco for the draw of the Club World Cup, was able to see the presence of local players at the Rabat-Salé airport, ready to board if Algeria accepted to open its airspace to Royal Air Maroc.
Morocco risks sanctions that can go up to $150,000 in fines and exclusion from the next two CHAN editions. Due to this forfeit, "it has been decided that group C will be composed of three teams, with the direct consequence of the qualification of the first two teams for the knockout phase," the CAF thus announced.
