CAF to Honor King Mohammed VI for Advancing Moroccan Football

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided to celebrate the efforts made by King Mohammed VI in favor of the development of football in Morocco. This will be during a ceremony scheduled for this month in Kigali, Rwanda.
Mohammed VI will share his distinction with President Paul Kagame. Dubbed the President’s Award for Outstanding Achievements, this distinction celebrates the work done by Morocco to breathe new life into the development of sport and football in particular.
To the credit of the King of Morocco, several sports facilities such as the academy bearing his name and the stadiums that make the kingdom one of the countries most sought after by CAF and FIFA to host major sporting events. The Moroccan stadiums will also host some matches of the qualifiers for the CAN scheduled in Côte d’Ivoire in 2023.
But the commitment of the Moroccan sovereign is not only at the level of infrastructure. There is also the promotion of women’s football, with the Lionesses of the Atlas, African vice-champions, who are preparing to participate for the first time in the World Cup.
