Bus Fares to Morocco Double as Spain Tightens Luggage Rules

Those who were used to taking the bus to go to Morocco or to come to Europe, know that you will have to break your piggy bank, as the ticket price has increased significantly in recent months. Here are a few elements of explanation.
While last year tickets between Barcelona and Tangier were sold for around 45 euros, bus companies have been offering them for the past few weeks at a price of 80 euros, almost double. Carriers confide to the newspaper l’Economiste that they have increased the price after the decision of the Spanish authorities to restrict passengers’ luggage, at least to force them to unload their luggage before going through customs.
Moreover, the European regulation has prohibited trailers a few months ago, which results in a loss of revenue for the carriers, which they almost automatically pass on to the ticket price. So inquire before considering taking the bus, the ticket price can sometimes be much higher than that of the plane.
The newspaper l’Economiste also recalls the bad faith or excess zeal of the Spanish police who, last year, would have deliberately limited the number of passport counters in the middle of August, which resulted in long queues.
