Burnley's Anass Zaroury Backs £10 Million Earthquake Relief Fund for Morocco

Moroccan international Anass Zaroury, who plays as an attacking midfielder at Burnley FC, supports the urgent £10 million sterling appeal to help the victims of the violent earthquake that struck Morocco on September 8.

Anass Zaroury expresses his closeness to the victims of the deadly earthquake. "It broke my heart," said Zaroury. "It was such a shock, out of nowhere. We were all sad in our families." The Belgian-born Moroccan international has family living near Marrakech, a city that was less affected. "Thank God, they (his family) are fine. They are all fine. But it’s still very sad. I’m really happy that a lot of people are trying to help with donations and everything people are doing to help around the world," the Atlas Lion rejoices.

The 22-year-old player supports the £10 million sterling emergency appeal launched by Islamic Relief, the largest Muslim charity organization in Great Britain founded in 1984 in Birmingham by Muslims shocked by the famine in Africa, with its partner Burnley, to help the victims of the earthquake in Morocco but also in east Lancashire, hit by an aftershock of magnitude 4.6 last week. "If people can give something, no matter how small, it is appreciated and will help get mattresses and blankets for people in need," Zaroury added.

In Morocco, more than 360,000 people were affected by this 6.8 magnitude quake in the High Atlas region, according to Mail Online. The earthquake also killed nearly 3,000 people and injured more than 5,000.
