Brutal Murder Trial Unveils Shocking Details in Essonne Assize Court

The trial of the alleged murderer of Marwane Souidi, a 25-year-old man, killed on September 26, 2022 in the apartment of a couple of friends in Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon (Essonne) is opening before the Essonne Assize Court.

Involved in the murder of Marwane Souidi, Jérémy B., 32, and Agnès M., 34, his girlfriend at the time, have been appearing since Monday before the Essonne Assize Court. A highly anticipated trial for Zakia, the aunt of the 25-year-old man killed on September 26, 2022 in the apartment of this couple of friends. "Seeing Jérémy face to face and reliving everything he put Marwane through will be very difficult and stressful," she whispers.

"What they did to him is barbaric," Zakia continues. "Why so much violence? How could he have done so much harm to him?" she questions. Three years after the events, she is inconsolable. "They destroyed an entire family," Zakia recalls. "It will never give us Marwane back, but we hope they will be sentenced to a heavy sentence." Agnès faces up to 20 years in prison. Jérémy, for his part, faces life imprisonment.

The murder of the young Marwane took place in the apartment of the couple of friends in Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon (Essonne) on September 26, 2022. In the afternoon of that day, Marwane, who was alone with Agnès, told her of his wish to leave, due to Jérémy’s outbursts of violence. The young woman decides to report this to her lover, a maintenance technician at the RATP. He had already left for work. According to Agnès’ testimony, Jérémy bursts into the apartment and begins to beat the young man.

Completely stunned by this onslaught of blows, the victim ends up on the ground. "Jérémy is said to have then thrown salt in his eyes before putting a glove in his mouth that he wrapped in tape," reports Le Parisien. According to his girlfriend, Jérémy wrapped Marwane’s body in plastic wrap with the help of the young woman who held his legs, before taking out a rope that he tied around the victim’s neck.

"After tying part of the rope to the bathroom door, he is said to have amused himself by lifting the victim and strangling him for several minutes until his last breath," reports the same source. On October 1, Marwane’s father reported his son’s disappearance to the gendarmerie. Jérémy offers to help him find him while at the same time organizing the macabre journey of the body.

The victim’s body was found under an elevator in Seine-Maritime, two months after his murder in the apartment of a couple of friends in Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon (Essonne). "At one point, he even exchanges with Marwane’s father to tell him that he has no news, while he is in the process of depositing the body in the cellar," whispers Nabil Ouchikli, one of the lawyers for the civil parties. "It’s a perversion without name."

Jérémy told the gendarmes of the Oise that he has not heard from Marwane since he left his home on September 26 to go buy a cell phone in Paris. But his suspicious behavior betrayed him. In October, the investigations on the couple conducted by the judicial police of the Essonne proved fruitful. The police detected traces of blood in the apartment.

They discreetly wired the premises, which allowed them to hear the two suspects make references to the cleaning of blood traces. They even went so far as to laugh at the police who would have missed it. Jérémy was arrested in Rives-en-Seine on November 22, and Agnès the next day. After their arrest, they were both placed in pre-trial detention.
