British Firm Predator Oil & Gas to Resume Drilling in Morocco’s Guercif Basin

The British company Predator Oil & Gas is about to launch its drilling operations on its project located in the Guercif basin, in northeastern Morocco, after a year of suspension.
Predator Oil & Gas is restarting its activities as early as next June. In a press release, the British company said it will remain "on schedule to commence drilling [the Moulouya-1 well] in June 2021". The operation will begin in the area of the Guercif oil agreement which covers the company’s Permits I, II, III and IV. The Guercif project covers an area of 7,269 km² and is located about 250 kilometers east of the Gharb basin.
"This is an exciting and exceptionally operationally busy period for the company, dominated by on-the-ground preparations in Morocco for the imminent drilling of the Moulouya-1 well," said Paul Griffiths, CEO of Predator Oil & Gas Holdings. The well, which will reach a depth of 2,000 m, is located on a trend from which the SDX Energy company has discovered several deposits in the region. Additional wells will also be drilled as part of this project, the manager assures.
The British company had suspended drilling operations on its Guercif I to IV project in April 2020 due to the risks related to the spread of Covid-19 and the restrictions imposed by the state of health emergency in Morocco.
