British Firm Begins Gas Exploration Drilling Off Moroccan Coast

The British company specialized in gas exploration, Chariot Oil & Gas, has started drilling operations on its Lixus permit, off Larache, in northern Morocco. The Stena Don drilling platform is in charge.
In a press release, Chariot Oil & Gas announced that the semi-submersible drilling platform Stena Don arrived on Monday, December 13, off the city of Larache, to carry out the drilling operations of two wells of the "Anchois" field, which is part of the Lixus exploration permit held 75% by the British company and 25% by the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM). The drilling work of this "evaluation and exploration well" is expected to last about 40 days.
Chariot has recently finalized a fundraising that will allow it to "drill both the Anchois-2 gas evaluation well and re-enter the Anchois-1 gas discovery well," says its interim CEO, Adonis Pouroulis, adding that the company plans to update the data separately after the completion of each operation.
This operation will not only confirm the volume of gas resources, potentially 28 billion cubic meters (m3), evaluate the quality of the reservoir and the productivity of the well, but also expand it to other possible discoveries of extractable and marketable natural gas.
