Brain Drain Crisis: Morocco Loses 600+ Engineers Annually to Europe

Like other African countries, Morocco is affected by the growing problem of brain drain. This deep-rooted evil that is gnawing at the Kingdom has been the subject of a report by the Franco-German channel, Arte.
Young Moroccans, especially the most educated, prefer to sell their skills in the hexagon and elsewhere. According to the data in the report, these Moroccans leaving the Kingdom are counted at around more than 600 engineers and computer developers. They settle in Europe, mainly in France, each year.
These massive departures are slowing down Morocco’s ambitions and risk creating a labor shortage in this highly strategic sector for the country’s future. The Government is being challenged and must create comfortable situations for these people who are often uncomfortable in their country of origin and curb these massive departures, which are nevertheless useful to the country.
