Bouygues Subsidiary Wins $10.7 Million Contract to Modernize Dakhla Airport in Morocco

A subsidiary of the French group Bouygues has won the contract to modernize the Dakhla airport following a call for tenders launched by the National Airports Office (ONDA).
The Grands Travaux Routiers (GTR), the name of the company that won, on December 16, the contract to modernize the Dakhla airport for an amount exceeding 107 million DH, reports Africa Intelligence.
There was only this Bouygues subsidiary in this offer launched at the end of October, indicates the same source. On the same day, this company prevailed over its Moroccan competitor Mojazine by winning the contract for the construction of an aircraft parking lot at the Rabat-Salé airport for an amount of 26 million dirhams.
The airline Transavia operated a direct flight to the Dakhla airport from Paris. This link was suspended due to the health crisis related to the coronavirus. Pending its relaunch, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) announced on December 15 that it would operate two flights per week from the Orly airport to this airport in the Sahara in the very near future.
