Bounou: "Mbemba was insulting En-Nesyri and inciting to injure Ounahi"

Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou made some confidences about the incident that occurred between Walid Regragui and Chancel Mbemba, at the end of the Morocco-DR Congo (1-1) match at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
"Youssef En-Nesyri told me that Mbemba was insulting him throughout the match. I never spoke with him. Mbemba was close to En-Nesyri, because he is a defender and Youssef is a striker. En-Nesyri told me that he had heard Mbemba tell his teammates to injure Azzedine Ounahi. That’s why the atmosphere was tense after the end of the match," Bounou confided, adding that "in reality, it was a misunderstanding from the start."
Walid Regragui also returned to the incident with the Leopards’ captain. "Mbemba’s incident taught me that in the future I will no longer greet the players. I will just greet the coach. I have already addressed the issue and said that I had not uttered any racist words. The cancellation of the sanction is the best proof. I asked the player to greet me and look at me with respect, that’s all," said the Moroccan coach in a recent statement on the Arryadia channel.
