Borussia Dortmund Aims to Retain Moroccan Star Achraf Hakimi Amid Transfer Speculation
Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, uncertain about his return to the Casa blanca, could well stay at Borussia Dortmund. This is at least the wish of the German club’s officials, particularly its sporting director, Michael Zorc.
Moroccan player Acharf Hakimi has emerged this season as one of the best in Europe. He played 53 games, scored 9 goals and provided 12 assists, reports Hespress.
Speaking about the future of the Moroccan prodigy, sporting director Michael Zorc was clear. He expressed the club’s desire to keep him in the squad beyond his loan or to acquire him permanently: "We have already expressed our interest in keeping Achraf beyond the summer several times. But it’s not the time to make a decision on this," Zorc told reporters at a press conference.
According to him, this decision also depends on the player and Real Madrid. "No decision has been made yet. We will have discussions in the coming weeks and months," he added. For now, Zinedine Zidane, coach of Real Madrid, very impressed by the performances of his protégé, declared a few days ago that the Moroccan player had a great future at the Casa blanca without however confirming his return.
While waiting for other European clubs to also express their desire to recruit the 21-year-old Moroccan defender, Dortmund will certainly make interesting proposals to Achraf Hakimi to keep him in the Bundesliga.
