Border Crossings Surge as Melilla-Morocco Frontier Reopens: 360,000 People, 90,500 Vehicles in Two Months

Two months after the reopening of the Melilla border with Morocco on May 17, a traffic of 360,000 people and 90,500 vehicles making trips in both directions has been recorded.
The Melilla border with Morocco has been in high demand by travelers since its reopening on May 17. In two months, around 360,000 people and 90,500 vehicles crossed this border in both directions, according to sources from the government delegation to EFE.
The border workers blocked in Melilla, who should be authorized to cross the border in the second phase of the reopening scheduled for May 31, continue to wait for the approval of the authorities to return to Morocco. Out of 265 applications from border workers, only 84 have been accepted so far.
