Beloved Moroccan Comedy Icon Bachir Skiredj Dies at 81 from COVID-19 Complications

Moroccan actor Bachir Skiredj died on Thursday, January 28 in Orlando, United States, from complications due to Covid-19. He was 81 years old.
According to those close to the deceased, the comedian was receiving home care after being infected with Covid-19. He did not survive.
Born in Tangier in 1939, Bachir Skiredj was a major figure in Moroccan comedy. He shone through professionalism on television, in theater and then in cinema. He is known for his roles in the films "In Search of My Wife’s Husband", "The Loves of Haj Mokhtar Soldi" and "Lalla Houbi".
Two years ago, the comedian was at the center of a controversy following the publication of two videos in which he attacked the royal family. A few weeks later, two people responsible for this leak had been sentenced to prison while Bachir Skiredj had decided to leave Morocco.
