Belgium Revokes Citizenship of 13 Convicted Terrorists with Dual Nationality

Convicted by default in Belgium for terrorism, thirteen fighters - mostly Belgian-Moroccans - who went to Syria or Afghanistan, have been stripped of their Belgian nationality by the Brussels Court of Appeal.

The Brussels Court of Appeal has stripped 13 men - mostly Belgian-Moroccans - of their Belgian nationality, convicted by default for terrorism, reports Belga. 12 of them had joined the jihadist ranks in Syria between late December 2012 and December 2014. As for the thirteenth, he had joined Afghanistan in 2007. Their removal from the municipal registers is also effective.

In Belgium, only dual nationals lose their Belgian nationality.
